Applicant Qualification Methods

The following are the most common methods that applicants use to qualify for the apprenticeship interview.  If you have questions about these options or need to learn about additional options, please contact us

Standard Qualification: 

  • You may apply and qualify for the interview when you are 17 years of age.  However, you cannot be selected for the apprenticeship until you are 18 years of age. 
  • You must have a valid driver's license to qualify for the interview. 
  • You must have a High School Diploma, a High School Equivalency Diploma (HiSET), a General Education Diploma (GED), or a letter from a high school counselor stating you are on track to graduate at the end of the current school year. 
  • To qualify for the interview, you must have completed a year of Algebra I or Algebra II, at any level, and recieved a grade of  "C" or higher. 

Who: Anyone


Military Qualification: Must be 18 years of age, hold a valid driver's license, and take the electrical aptitude test.

Who: Someone with 3 Years of Active Duty service with honorable discharge within 5 years of the application.

Or

Who: Someone with 6 Years of service AND still serving as a reservist or honorable discharge within 2 years of application.

Or

Who: Someone with an honorable Discharge AND completed school in MOS applicable to the commercial or industrial electrical construction industry.


Industry Experience QualificationMust be 18 years of age, hold a valid driver's license, and take the electrical aptitude test.

Who: Someone who can provide documentation of 2000 hours of OJT experience in the electrical construction trade.


Pre-Apprenticeship QualificationMust be 18 years of age, hold a valid driver's license, and take the electrical aptitude test.

Who: Someone who can provide a certificate for successful completion of the etA’s Interim Credential pre-apprenticeship program.


To waive the "C" in Algebra requirement, you can complete the Tech Math course provided by the electrical Training Alliance.
