Steps to Apply

Step 1 - Decide what apprenticeship program you want to apply for:

The first step is to decide which one of our electrical programs you are interested in applying for.  We have an inside program that represents 93-96% of our apprentices, a telecommunication program that represents 3-5% of our apprentices, and a residential program that represents 1-2% of our apprentices.

Step 2 - Review the acknowledgments:

The acknowledgments section provides you with all the information you need to understand the application process. It also informs you of the basic qualification requirements for our program and the specific areas of jurisdiction. Review these to get started.

Step 3 - Create a TradeSchool account:

After submitting the application request form, you will create a TradeSchool account.

Step 4 - Pay the application fee:

After creating a TradeSchool account, and receiving access to TradeSchool, you will need to submit a $40.00 fee to cover the application processing. We accept the following methods of payment: Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card payments are processed online. To pay with Cash, Check, or Money Order, you will need to stop by the Training Center.

Step 5 - Complete the online application:

After we have received your $40.00 application processing fee, you will be able to complete your online application on TradeSchool. After you submit your application, you will need to email/submit your qualification documentation.

Step 6 - Complete the GAN Personal Experience Form:

After submitting your application, you will complete the GAN Personal Experience Form (PEF). The PEF is an online form that collects details about your education, work history, training, and other relevant experience. You’ll also upload supporting documents such as transcripts and work verification. Completing the PEF is required before you can take the GAN Aptitude Battery Test.

Step 7 - Complete the GAN Aptitude Test:

The GAN Aptitude Battery Test measures key skills needed for success in the electrical trade, including math, reading comprehension, spatial reasoning, and mechanical principles. It consists of five sections and takes about 2½ hours to complete at our training center. Your score is not pass/fail—it is part of what determines your ranking on the eligibility list.

Step 9 - Selection from the Ranked List:

Once applicants complete the GAN Personal Experience Form and GAN Aptitude Test, they are scored and placed on the ranked list. An applicant shall remain on the ranked list and eligible for selection for one calendar year unless they decline an offer, request to be removed from the list, fail to meet post-selection requirements, or are approved for a re-interview.
