Request for an application

Education Requirement	Applicants must have completed high school, earned a HiSET or GED, or hold an Associate Degree or higher.

Minimum Age Requirement	Applicants must be at least 17 years old to apply.

Application Request Terms	By requesting an application, you accept responsibility for completing and returning it along with all required documents within the specified timeframe. You must keep the office updated with your current contact information.

Application Fee Notice	A $40 application fee is required before accessing the application. Payment can be made by credit or debit card online or by cash/check in person at the apprenticeship office.

Qualification Documents	Applicants must provide certain documents during the application process and may submit additional supporting documents. All uploads must be uploaded before submission of the application. Late uploads will not be accepted. Documents (if applicable): Valid driver’s license Work History - the following are accepted as evidence to verify hours worked: Employer Letter providing Total Hours Employed (Preferred Method — this can be requested from current and/or former employers) Paystubs for all Hours Worked Screen shot of Monthly Work Reports Submitted through TradeSchool.) Employment Jurisdiction	Apprentices may be required to report for on-the-job training assignments anywhere within the JATC’s geographic jurisdiction, which includes multiple counties depending on the program. The geographic jurisdictions are provided below. Inside Wireman: The counties of Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Madison, Warren, Hardin, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Audubon, Guthrie, Adair, Union, Clarke, Lucas, Ringgold, Decatur, Adams, Cass, Montgomery, Page, Taylor, Wayne, Marion, Mahaska and Monroe. Residential Wireman: The counties of Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Madison and Warren. Telecommunication Technician: The counties of Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Madison, Warren, Hardin, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Audubon, Guthrie, Adair, Union, Clarke, Lucas, Ringgold, Decatur, Adams, Cass, Montgomery, Page, Taylor, Wayne, Marion, Mahaska and Monroe.

Post-Selection Procedures	Selection may require additional steps such as physical exams, drug testing, background checks, boot camp, and other pre-indenture requirements. Applicants must be physically and mentally able to safely perform or learn to safely perform the essential functions of the job of an electrical worker in the type of program for which they are applying, either with or without reasonable accommodations. The necessary abilities typically include the following: repetitively lift and carry more than 50 pounds; climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, poles and towers of various heights; crawl and work in confined spaces such as attics, manholes and crawlspaces; and to write, read, hear, and understand instructions and warnings in English.

Wage Progression	Apprentices earn a percentage of the journeyman or technician scale based on program, hours of on-the-job training, and related instruction. GAN Personal Experience Form (PEF) and GAN Aptitude Test	As part of the application process, you will complete the Personal Experience Form (PEF) and the GAN Aptitude Battery Test: Personal Experience Form (PEF): Within 10 business days of opening your application, you will receive an email from GAN Human Resources with login details to access the PEF portal. You must complete the PEF and upload supporting documentation before you can take the GAN Aptitude Test. Information required includes: Work History — the following are accepted as evidence to verify hours worked: Employer Letter providing Total Hours Employed (Preferred Method — this can be requested from current and/or former employers) Paystubs for all Hours Worked Screen shot of Monthly Work Reports Submitted through TradeSchool.) Education: Transcripts showing qualifying semesters and proof of one full credit of algebra or higher math with a grade of C or above. Training History: Trade school or certificate programs. Military Experience: If applicable. Community Involvement: Organizations or certificate programs. Upload Requirements: Full-page copies of transcripts and documents (official transcripts not required). Documents in languages other than English must include a certified translation. Letters of Recommendation: Optional but encouraged. You may upload multiple letters, but only the highest scoring letter will count toward your ranking. Letters must be uploaded before submitting the PEF. GAN Aptitude Battery Test: The GAN Aptitude Test consists of five sections: Paper Folding – Spatial visualization skills. Numerical Computation – Basic arithmetic (whole numbers, fractions, decimals). Numerical Reasoning – Logical thinking and pattern recognition. Reading Comprehension – Understanding and interpreting written material. Mechanical Reasoning – Knowledge of physical and mechanical principles. The test is not pass/fail; your score on the aptitude test, along with the score on your PEF, are both used to determine your ranking on the eligibility list. The test will take approximately 2½ hours and will be scheduled at the JATC. You will be notified by email with details.
